We’re all told that challenges in life separate the victims from those extraordinary humans who make service their vocation in life.
I tell this to my clients all the time.
And yet last week I was forced to examine whether I was actually “walking my own talk”, big time.
Let me explain.
At the beginning of the year, I set 3 key intentions I wanted to successfully achieve this year.
Two weeks ago I achieved my first goal by signing a contract for my dream home within my budget. Family and friends are amazed by what I successfully dreamed into reality.
With deep enthusiasm, I began focusing on my next 2 goals.
I was determined to stay in a “creating magic” vibration, by getting up at the crack of dawn and going to the gym, while reinforcing a healthy mindset by listening to motivational, You Tube videos on my phone.
And then it happened!
I fell backwards while moving between 2 machines and fractured my wrist.
Yep! I’m in plaster for 6 weeks.
How did I react?
Firstly, I surrendered to feeling sorry for myself for a few days, before recognising that I needed to set up a new action plan for the next few weeks.
These included, setting up daily rituals for anchoring my wellness and gratitude in the present moment.
I rescheduled tasks I knew I couldn’t achieve for now and surrendered to accepting help from others to taxi me to appointments and help pack boxes for my move in a few weeks.
Basically, I focused on what I could achieve and remembered that change is part of life.
I now have an immediate opportunity to turn my focus inwards and acknowledge my qualities and my strengths.
How do you handle challenges in your life?
Do you wallow in self-pity or do you view these times as an opportunity to focus on gratitude, while digging deeply inside yourself to find new levels of strength you didn’t realise you had until now?
I’d love to hear from you, so please comment on this post and let me know what strategies you use.
